The Adidas KB8 is a basketball shoe that was endorsed by Kobe Bryant; the shoe was released in 1997, but was renamed to 'Crazy 8' when Kobe Bryant switched to another sportswear brand.
The upper of the Adidas KB8 is made from a mix of leather and synthetic materials: that provide a supreme level of comfort and performance. The inside of the shoe is made from textile, and is implemented to provide comfort and to absorb sweat. The KB8 has a large EVA injected midsole that is a light weight polymer that provides cushioning. The midsole of the shoe also includes the Torsion System: that provides arch support and returns energy to the forefoot. The shoe is fastened with laces and is easily inserted onto a foot due to a large ankle entry.
Kobe Bryant signed a 6-year contract with Adidas that was valued at approximately $48 million over the six years. The first shoe that was endorsed by Kobe Bryant was the KB8, and was released in 1997. Further editions of the shoe were released: such as the KB8 II. Kobe Bryant switched to Nike once his contract expired with Adidas; Nike released the Kobe Bryant collection - that included the Kobe X sneakers - once Bryant's personal life settled down and he was not exposed to such a high degree of negative press attention. Adidas changed the name of the Adidas KB8 to the Adidas Crazy 8; after Bryant switched to Nike.
The Adidas Crazy 8 is still manufactured and sold by Adidas, and is for sale for around £75-£95. The shoe is released in a vast range of multi-coloured colourways; such as: Red / Black; Royal Blue / White Gum; Dark Navy Blue / Yellow . The Adidas Crazy 8 is also endorsed by NBA teams and former NBA players; such as: New York Knicks Crazy 8; Chicago Bulls Crazy 8; Los Angeles Lakers Crazy 8; and Crazy 8 Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
