The Adidas Country is an all-round running shoe, suitable for cross-country running, that was released in 1970. The Adidas Country was released in a leather and a nylon version; the leather version being durable for cross-country running, and the nylon version being lightweight for long distance track running events. The tongue of the Adidas Country helps to identify a vintage or a modern version of the shoe; as can be seen on the below images, the modern version of the Adidas Country is on the right (with a gold patterned tongue label) and the vintage versions of the shoe have a green patterned tongue label.
Compared to modern Adidas running shoes that feature the Torsion System and Boast technology, the Adidas Country is a basic shoe. The Adidas Country features the following: nylon or leather upper with soft nubuck suede overlays; mesh lining that cools the foot; the classic 3-stripes design; the classic heel patch design; EVA midsole material for cushioning; and a gum rubber outsole for grip. By standard, the Adidas Country is released in a two-tonal colourway: white leather/nylon and green leather stripes/heel patch. The classic green colourway and name of the sneaker signify that the shoe is primarily designed for cross-country running. Present day, the Adidas Country is part of the Originals collection of Adidas sneakers, and is sold for casualwear rather than as a running shoe. The Adidas Country has been released is more colourways than white/green, such as: Solar Blue / White; and Black / Orange.
