Adidas Copa Mundial: football boot released for the 1982 World Cup

Adidas Copa Mundial is a football boot that was released for the 1982 World Cup; the 1982 FIFA World Cup was held in Spain and "Copa Mundial" means "World Cup" in Spanish. The Copa Mundial is Adidas' best selling football boot - in fact the best ever selling football boot - and it has been manufactured since 1979 till the present day. The most iconic aspect of the Copa Mundial is that it uses Kangaroo leather for the upper material; making the leather soft, light and durable.

The Copa Mundial, apart from some special editions, has always been released in black leather, with white stripes and a white rear heel logo patch. The design of the Copa Mundial has largely remained the same: there have been a few tweaks to the tongue and heel panel. The Copa Mundial lettering is, by standard, in white lettering; however, special edition versions of the boot have had gold lettering; gold lettering is typical for Adidas sneakers. The outsole of the Copa Mundial is made from polyurethane, the heel design is flat, the insole is an EVA design, the tongue can be folded over, the studs are molded, and the boot is fastened with laces.

The 1982 FIFA World Cup is rated as being amongst the most entertaining and iconic World Cups; and featured great players like Maradona, Zico and Platini. The eventual winners of the World Cup were Italy, but, the semi-finals were eventful games: with France versus West Germany and Italy versus Brazil. The German goalkeeper Schumacher is infamous for his collision with French defender Patrick Battiston in the semi finals. Italy beat West Germany in the final at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid: the result was 3:1.
